Malcolm's Open House

Malcolm's school had an open house, and the first graders were able to display their plant projects they worked on at home the whole month before. During the whole month, they learned about plants at school, and made plant art projects.

For Malcolm's project, he decided he wanted to try growing a plant with pop to see if it would grow. So we took two pots and planted pansy seeds and watered one with water, and the other with sprite. The one with water started to grow, but then I think it got over watered, and didn't grow much after. The one with sprite just molded. I was happy to see the molded pot go after a month. Here is Malcolm in front of his desk with his project, and then his project a little closer.

Malcolm was in a classroom where he had two teachers that did a work share thing. The top picture is with Mrs. Walshe, who taught Monday, Tuesday and every other Wednesday. Bottom is Mrs. Way, who taught every other Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Love this little butterfly made with a coffee filter. I remember making one when I was little. Also Quinn making another appearance with his fingers! He's such a stinker and always has to try and jump in front of my camera or wave his hand.

We're so proud of Malcolm and all his hard work in first grade. He got 100% on almost all his spelling tests and math tests! We couldn't be more proud. He's learned so much this year and it's so fun to see him reading and writing so well on his own. He's grown so much in so many different ways. We love you Malcolm! 

Last Girls Night

A while ago we started a Thursday night girls jacuzzi night. It's been fabulous to get together, kid-free to talk and relax. I don't know why we didn't start it sooner then we did. One week, the girls surprised me early and we went and got some Yogurtland to celebrate my half-birthday, since Melissa has always felt bad we didn't celebrate my real birthday. Funny girl! It was fun to eat frozen yogurt and jacuzzi. 

Since I'm moving soon, and Melissa was taking off back home to Arizona for a month before I left, we had one last girls night together. We went and got Yogurtland again, and then did the jacuzzi. I took my camera, and of course we didn't take pictures while we were all dry and still cute, so Melissa called Craig (her husband) down to get some pictures of us in the jacuzzi. Pretty brave of us, I know! We added one extra person to our group that night, Chelsea, who was there staying with Melissa (Chelsea's husband was friends with Melissa's husband growing up) for a few days finding a place to live, as her husband will be starting dental school. She's a nice girl, and I'm sad I won't have the chance to get to know her.

(Have I ever mentioned before that I have a friend Shayla, isn't that fun! Her family moved in like the week after us and everyone was so confused, especially since they're last name is Matthews. Everyone had us confused and our husbands confused. In fact, just a few months ago, after Shayla's husband Todd talked in church, someone came up to Matt and told him how good his talk was. Matt was all confused until he realized he was talking about Todd. Ha! Sorry about the tangent, just had to blog it!)

 We thought we would try and take a "fun" picture too. Haha, at least it was fun taking it!

Just had to post this as I love Melissa's cute face in it! I miss her already!

I'm so sad, that I'm leaving these great friends behind, they have been my So Cal family, and I'm going to miss them so much. I'm sad that I've only had a year to enjoy hanging with them, which has actually been less then that, since it takes time to foster friendships. I hope that I can find some new friends that make me feel just as loved in our new home. I love you girls and I miss you already!

Car Show

A couple weekends ago there was a car show at the shopping mall by us. Matt loves car shows, so we had to go. I love looking at all the old cars too, and making requests for ones I'd like someday. Haha!

I've always loved late 60's mustangs and would really love one someday. Not sure when I would drive it, but I want one. 

Another nice convertible mustang. But I'm more partial to the red one. 

Nice El Camino that make me think of the old Ranchero we used to have on the farm.

The El Camino had this sweet mirror to see it's nice under carriage.

Above is a pretty cool Corvette that Winston couldn't help but touch, though we kept telling the kids no touching. Good thing there was a couple with the Chevy SSR that had grandsons and knew the boys needed to be hands on. They let the boys get inside and get a picture. Plus they gave them a piece of candy.

52' GMC pick up (atleast we think it was a '52). I love the purple, it looks so cool and pretty. Also we got a little family shot in the chrome wheel.

Awesome and classic station wagon. I'm sure we can all remember our own family station wagons. I have fond memories of riding in the back of ours, no seatbelts. Also the beautiful white Gran Turismo. Love the red interior, it's hot!

Love the top picture with the toy car on the engine, which spinned. It looked just like the car too. Then you have the classic Thunderbird, with the drive-in food tray. So cute!

The fire station is the one who put on the car show, so they had one of the ladder trucks there. Quinn was pouting and didn't want in on the picture.

Look at the pouty faced Quinn. He saw Chipotle, where Matt and I like to eat sometimes, and all of the sudden was dying of thirst. He was mad we wouldn't get him a drink. Then there's Malcolm, happy as a clam, and showing off his big boy teeth. He's forgotten how to natural smile now. He now smiles by sticking his teeth out. It cracks me up, but I miss his very cute natural smile.

Then Quinn thought he'd just go pout by the Chipotle door.

Even going inside, I guess hoping if he did so we would all of the sudden have the desire to give into him.

One last car, that Winston decided to run his finger down the side of. The owner didn't appreciate that too much as he was telling him not to touch. Oops!

There at The Shoppes, they have a splash pad, which wasn't on that day, but the fountains still were. The boys had an enjoyable time playing in them and getting all wet. Even though it was kind of chilly out. We thought Winston was going to fall in he was leaning so far in sometimes.

After he was done, he didn't like being wet anymore. This is a kid that if he gets a drop of water on him, he's usually freaking out and stripping off his clothes. Luckily he dealt with it.

As we left, the older boys being naughty, ran ahead. I'm not sure what Malcolm learns in school, but he was doing a little yoga or something while sitting in the middle of the star. 

Quinn's Mishap

Quinn was having a few nights last week where he'd wake up and not be able to sleep because he was so scared of an earthquake. He'd wake me up several times because he was scared. The night before Mother's day, or Mother's day however you look at it, he'd woken up, and then shortly after Winston woke up. I went to put Winston back in bed, and find Quinn still awake in bed, and noticed an extra night light on the other side of the room. I discovered it was the plug in Scentsy from the bathroom, that had been on in the bathroom. Therefore I knew there was wax everywhere. I was so mad at that sweet little boy. I was glad he didn't get any on him, but I was tired and mad. So the next morning I went in to assess the damage. 

That little stinker! Thank goodness for a hair dryer and paper towels. He got a little on the carpet in his room too, but thankfully heating wax with a hair dryer makes it easy to come out. I wasn't so mad either the next morning. Though it was Mother's Day and how could I be mad on that day. I even waited to clean it up until Monday. Haha! Oh and notice on the wall of wax there is a black speck. That's a dead bug that must have been hanging out in the wax. Nice.

When I showed this to Quinn, he insisted that he hadn't done it. Apparently he hadn't known that little night light actually had melted wax in it. I love you little stinker Quinn!

Mother's Day

I had such a fabulous Mother's Day, probably my best one yet for some reason. (Actually probably because I  didn't lift a finger all day!) Even though ALL the boys woke me up at some point during the night, it was a great day. We have 9am church on Sundays and I don't usually eat breakfast since I'm trying to get myself ready and everyone else and be on time. Matt made me my most favorite breakfast, chocolate chip waffle with buttercream syrup and whipped cream...in the shape of a heart. Ah, so sweet! I didn't get it in bed, as I was up early, but he did bring it to me while I was getting ready.

Malcolm made me this card over a month ago, and has been hiding it in his room. It is so cute. I love how he made it into a butterfly and even made a separate head and antennas.

Ah, I'm a great mom because he loves me. I'm glad it's so simple. :)

Malcolm also made me something at school. This is the bag he gave it to me in. I just thought it was so cute.

He made this adorable wall hanging that I just love. For some reason it is just so precious to me and I will cherish it always. I hung it right above my nightstand.

He was very happy with the heart and made sure to point out to me the designs he made on it. It's adorable.

I was then showered with too many other gifts. A new shirt and a pair of shorts, and a new rice cooker. I haven't had a rice cooker in years and I've been dying to have one they sell at Costco. I was so happy for that rice cooker. You know you're old and a mom when kitchen appliances thrill you!

I actually remembered to have Matt take a picture of me with all the boys that have made me a mother. I would have liked to have done it before church when we're all a little more presentable, but I didn't want to be late. I took what I could get, and this was wonderful, although not the greatest picture.

The rest of the day was fabulous. I took a much needed nap with Winston. I don't like sleeping with him at night, but I love taking a nap with him. Matt did all the cooking and cleaning up and I just lounged around being the queen for the day. :) He made some yummy bbq chicken and rice for dinner. Usually I'll still be the productive mom on these days, but this year I decided why not take advantage of the day. I'm glad I did!

Splash Pad

The first week of May we had a wonderful heat wave! It was great to sit by the pool and get some sun, and to actually get hot enough that I had to dip in the pool quite a few times. One day all us girls decided to hit the splash pad at the shopping center down the road from us. It got to 94 degrees that day, though we went before noon, so I'm sure it wasn't that warm then, but I was sweating watching the kids cool off! The boys had lots of fun, and Malcolm was disappointed we went while he was in school. Poor boy, he always thinks he's so left out!

 Winston was not wanting to get in at first. It took him a while to warm up to the idea,but then he loved it.

My friend Melissa's daughter Ruthie. She was too preoccupied to even look at me for a picture. She is so adorable in her cute green swimsuit. Sure going to miss watching her grow up. I've had fun when I get to babysit her.
