7/7/07 Tami's Wedding

My best friend from high school got married and I was one of the many bridesmaids. She had it at a beautiful bed and breakfast in Wenatchee just off the river. On Friday Matt and I went to the rehearsal dinner and then I stayed the night with Tami so my family wouldn't have to bring me over early (I was the only bridesmaid with kids!). The only bad thing about it all was that it was on Quinn's birthday! Not that he would know the difference only turning 2, but we would have to wait and celebrated the boys' birthday the following weekend. (Mack's birthday was on Sunday 7/8.)

All us bridesmaid during the rehearsal. She had eight bridesmaids...she didn't want that many, but her fiance wanted 10 groomsman. Crazy huh!?!She had a gorgeous dress...and the scenery was beautiful. One of the bad things that happened, a fire started just across the highway and so there were helicopters flying over getting water and such. Luckily the smoke didn't come our way until the reception!She's gorgeous too! She is such a good friend, one of the few I stay in contact with from high school.Her mom walking her down the aisle. Her dad passed away just after mine did, (weird huh!), so it was cute having her mom walk her down. Her cousin Sam and I sang during the ceremony. It was a lot of fun singing with him again. We sang in high school together and at a few weddings since.Me walking down the aisle after the ceremony with my companion...I don't even remember his name. The only thing we had to do was put the center pieces together.While they were waiting for me to say goodbye.It was a beautiful sunset when we got home...of course the camera didn't capture it very well.

Hot Days and Swimming Lessons

It has been so hot the last couple weeks here. It's been in the high 90's or low 100's. So we've been doing a lot of swimming and staying inside. I can't stand the heat unless I can sit in the water. Matt came home a few times from work and decided to do a little slip n sliding with the kids. He would take them down on his back, they thought it was pretty fun. He's such a good dad!!

I had to post this picture of Mack. These swimming trunks don't seem to stay pulled up. I always have to remind him to pull up his pants. Matt thought this was so funny with his little plumber's crack.We did swimming lessons the last two weeks. Malcolm does very well in the water, I had done a mommy and me class with him when he was 2 and he loved it. Well it was hard to convince him to go to swimming lessons. He is so shy in public. At home he's always loud and busy, you know normal, but you try putting him in an uncomfortable situation and he clings to you. Luckily Cynthia was there to help me. Malcolm didn't want to get in the pool with his class.Eventually she got him to sit on the side with her.And then to go neck deep. He eventually joined his class. Every couple days he didn't know if he wanted to get in. His teacher was in our ward and so we took him to his house to see his poisonous tropical frogs. That seemed to help Malcolm too. Finally on the last day of swimming lessons, he didn't want anyone to go with him. Go figure!!While Cynthia was busy with Malcolm, I was doing a Mommy and me class with Quinn. He wasn't a huge fan of the pool, would just venture out a little, but it was very easy to watch him, never had to worry. I thought this class would be good for him. He really didn't like it too much. I don't think he liked being the the deep end the whole time and not being able to be independent. He eventually started kicking his legs, but he never wanted to float on his back. I dunked him under the water a handful of times, but he hated every time.Everyday he would tell me he wanted to go after about 10 minutes, but some how I managed to keep him in the whole 30 min. I guess it worked a little because now he's all over the place in the water, and I have to keep a closer eye on him. He'll try venturing out with the older kids and try going down the slides that are too big for him. Fun times with swimming lessons, hopefully the next round will be better!!Thanks Mel for taking all the swimming pictures, I wouldn't have any if it wasn't for you!!

Saturday June 30th Jayni's Party

Wow...so it's been forever since I've done a post. I started this one two weeks ago, but I only got as far as putting the pictures on my computer. I have been busy...and so so tired. I haven't even really been reading anybodies blogs...just looking at the pictures, how lame. It also didn't help this last week that Melanie gave me a really good book to read (Twilight By Stephanie Meyer). I couldn't put it down. Whenever I was tired and felt like sleeping, I ended up reading and wasting all my free time.

So here it goes on some overdue posts! Maybe I can stay on top of it now.

This picture is great, it looks like he totally broke it, but really most of that was already done.The kids were so funny. Usually kids run for the candy and take as much as possible. Here the kids were all pretty picky about what they wanted to get.After the kids had their share, us adults picked what we wanted. So funny!!Milo at his best!! Crown and all!Matt and Milo decided to have a gum ball eating contest and see who could chew the most at once. I wanted a picture, but they spit it out before I had a chance. Well then Tom decided to show them up and shoved both Milo's and Matt's chewed gum in his mouth, after they had put it on a dirty empty bird bath. How disgusting...let's just say the next day he wasn't feeling that great and didn't know why.Jayni dancing to the musical princess card we got her. She loved it. We also gave her a blanket I made and a little racket ball set. She loved everything she got.The wonderful cake Mom made her. She did a wonderful job. We drove from Moses Lake to Tri-Cities (1.5 hrs.) and Mom held the cake on her lap the whole time.

The Birthday Bash

Wow...I can't believe how time flies. Can it really be another year for my babies to get older. It's both sad and exciting to see them get older. It's just happening so quick. So Quinn had his 2nd birthday on Saturday July 7th, and Malcolm had his 4th birthday on Sunday July 8th. Since we were at the wedding on Saturday we did just a little cake and presents on Sunday. We did the real celebrating this last weekend instead. Matt and I got the boys' bikes for their birthday. The sad thing is I didn't get a picture of them when we gave it to them, I didn't have my camera. I still haven't taken any yet, so I'm gonna get on that!

Malcolm the day of his real birthday. I made him a Lightening McQueen pancake. (Not easy to do!) Then I let him have the special plate of Cynthia's. I figured I could trust him with it.That morning Cynthia gave them their second present to go along with the first. She got them each new jammies, Mack "Cars" and Quinn "Spiderman". They both loved them. They also got new bunk beds for their birthday. When we went home for my Dr's appt. we bought them and had them delivered. My awesome friend Erica went to my apartment when they came. Poor boys don't get to sleep on them until we get home!Malcolm really wanted a batman cake and of course since it's not a movie right now, no stores had them. I was trying to take the easy way out, but instead Mom gave me lessons on the how to's of cake making and I made them both a cake! It was really a lot of fun...I just might do it again. Plus homemade cake is so much better then store bought!Gramimi let the boy's decorate graham crackers while I did the cakes. How fun for them!!Malcolm enjoyed putting it on, but didn't want to eat it.Quinn just enjoyed eating the frosting.Quinn's finished cake. He loved anything to do with balls. I decided to do a basketball cake since Gramimi and Poppy were getting him a basketball hoop.Whenever he talks about basketballs he always says "ball, shoot, ball", so Mom wrote it on the side of his cake. That was the only decorating she did...but she did help with the initial frosting of it too.Malcolm's batman cake. I was very pleased with the end results. That night Malcolm told me he didn't want to eat the cake...or anyone...we could only eat the white part, but not the words either. Funny kid, luckily he was fine the next day...good thing since we pretty much devoured both cakes!The birthday boys taking a break from all the fun. We had lots of friends and a few family there. We set up 2 slip n slides, had a fun blow up pool, a fun sprinkler and other fun blow up toys. The kids played the whole time. We also had a BBQ with lot of good food. Thanks to everyone who brought something to share!!Singing happy birthday! Quinn refused to blow out his candles. Silly boy. What a fun day! The kids love it, and us adults love it too...well at least I enjoy getting together with all our friends and family.
