Good News and Goodbyes

I have to do a post from this weekend...but I haven't had time to go through all the pictures, and there's a lot. I just had to do this post first, even though I hate getting out of order!

So the question we have been getting more than anything lately is whether we are going home for the summer or staying here. We've enjoyed our past summers around our families...but moving a family of five...not so easy. We've been hoping that Matt could find something here. Well today Matt was going to class and was walking with his professor. He happened to ask if he had any research positions open for the summer and he said to talk to him after class. Well he got a job doing some research!! Yay! This will be great experience for Matt and will look great on his applications to come. The professor he will be working with also used to be a pre health counselor. He will be a great reference for him.

This will be the first summer that we have stayed here. It's kinda a bitter sweet thing for me. I will miss being so close and involved with our families. I'm also sad that some of our close friends will be leaving! I'm excited to see what fun we can have here on our own though. Hopefully we'll have lots of visitors. Hint, hint!

Earlier this year, one of our neighbors friend asked Matt if he would consider selling his bike. He's kinda thought about it on and off. He's had a love/hate relationship with it. Some days he has to jump it because the battery has died. Other days he just wants to go out on a drive in the nice weather.

Monday Matt came home and took my camera outside. When he came back in I asked him what he was doing and he made some smart remark. When I looked I saw pictures of his motorcycle. For some reason he decided to list it on craigslist. Since then he's had many emails and calls. He had a guy come look at it yesterday. He started questioning whether he really wanted to sell it. I told him he didn't have to...totally his choice. Well someone came and looked at it today and he sold it. They even bought it for $400 more than Matt paid for it. The boys were really sad, especially Quinn. I took them outside so they could say their "goodbyes". Quinn said something like, "but I love my bike!" Is there any such thing as seller remorse? That's what Matt's having. He's wondering why he wanted to sell it. It happened so fast I guess! Well he's gotta love the wad of cash that's burning a hole in his pocket now. When Matt walked in after the sale was all said and done, he said "Now I'm not a bike guy...I'm just a guy".

I will actually miss this bike. Matt bought it right before we moved here, so he's had it almost 3 years. The exhaust was modified a little bit so it's really quite loud. One of our mail man used to call him the "Harley Guy" because it sounds like one. I could always hear when he came home, and I'm sure our neighbors could hear him revving it up in the mornings. I have to say that Matt looked incredibly hot on it too. Sorry I know I talk about Matt's "hotness" quite often, but I did marry him just for his looks you know! The boys also love this bike too. They would always sit at the window watching Matt drive away. Quinn gained a total love for bikes because of it too. At least now I won't have to worry that a neighbor will be calling CPS on us when Matt takes the boys on a ride around the parking lot!

Snow Days

Can we just say SNOW STORM!! We have had some major snow this week. I would say we've had around a foot...then this morning we woke up...to about another foot!! Craziness, let me tell you. They canceled all local schools. Matt was getting ready for school and went to catch the bus. Right after he left the radio said WSU was canceled too. I had just seen the bus drive by as he walked out, so I knew he would be waiting for about 10 minutes. I decided to hurry and rescue him from the bus stop, so I quickly put the boys in their snow pants and we ran outside. The car was totally covered, so it took a few minutes to get it free. When I walked around the car, the snow was almost to my KNEES!! After a few attempts of backing up I was able to get the car free from all the snow. I actually rescued Matt too. Then I let him drive. He didn't know if he should believe that school was canceled so we drove through campus. Malcolm was yelling in the car anytime we saw someone, "schools canceled, go back home!" So Matt stared rolling down the window and he would yell it at all these people. They mostly just laughed, but I'm sure once they got to school, they wished they would have listened!!

So here are some pictures of the snow. The snow plow in our parking lot has been plowing snow all around Matt's motorcycle. Which he doesn't really like, since when there isn't snow on the ground he'll still drive it. The snow close to the bike is all the snow that has fallen recently though. Well here's his bike....I don't think he'll be driving it until July!!
Here's our sidewalk. The snow is so deep from all the snow that has accumulated!!
Our friends Erica and Shane came over since we were all stuck at home. Shane made Lilly some snow pants so that she could play in the snow. I think she loved to play in the snow...I don't know about the snow pants.
Lilly fell in love with Quinn's bed! She decided to take it over along with his sippy cup of water. Sweet girl!!
After Quinn's nap we decided to make a quick trip to Moscow in search for some snow boots for Matt and I. We took the back road...it gets really crazy snow drifts on it. Notice the snow is almost all the way up to the sign. Crazy huh!?! Oh and Matt and I found some snow boots...they weren't very easy to come by though since everybody was buying them today!
This first pictures if very dark, but it gave a better view of how deep the snow is right in front of our apartment building.
Matt's one leg is down as far as he could push it...to the top of his thigh! The kids thought it was pretty fun to be stuck in the snow too. Supposedly according to the online weather channel, it's suppose to snow clear up until next week. Do you think it would be a good time for the baby to come? I'm thinking he's going to want to stay in for a while with this weather!

It's In The Blood

The boys love Matt's motorcycle. Matt will put them on it, and sometimes even start it up and let them rev it a little. It's cute how they think they are just something else. I think this picture is so cute and just had to post it. Quinn is absolutely into bikes now. He will find the little toy bikes we have and play with them forever. He even has a really good sound down. Whenever Matt leaves he always says...in his little language "Daddy bike go", it is so cute. He's always telling me "bike go". I can't believe how much he talks...Malcolm was never this way.Quinn right after his bath...I don't know why but at first he wanted me to put his jacket on. He just looked so cute with his firefighter hat and riding the scooter. He is such a fun, but busy, kid.

Brotherly Love

The boys actually sharing!! So this doesn't happen very often. They both wanted the bike so Mack told Quinn to get on. Quinn was on the back at first, but he kept falling off, so then Mack convinced him to get on front. I loved it...what a compromise.

Motorcycle Riding

Today Quinn decided to go for a bike ride. Notice the helmet a few sizes to big. Malcolm of course had to join in on the attention! Well actually Mack did this same thing last year, only he would get Matt's gloves on too. We have a short little video clip on it.Here Quinn is making the bike noises. I had to lift the visor for him...he was fogging it up, and I wanted a better picture of that sweet face.He is telling me bye. The boys always like to pretend they are like daddy and going to school on the bike...or just going to school period. I just love this picture...he just looks so darn cute!

The Mack Attack

Since I pretty much had a whole post on just Quinn, I thought I should post one just of the Mack Attack. This is him on his Daddy's bike. Both the boys love it when Daddy will let them sit on it.Malcolm was doing all sorts of silly poses this day. He really loves to have me take pictures with the digital camera and then look at himself. He really likes to look at himself in the mirror, but what is really funny is he likes to throw a fit in the kitchen. He watches his reflection in the oven! I hope he's not too vain!Oh the love of a brother!Mack was a pirate for Halloween. He was so excited...until he saw his best friend as a dragon. Then that was the cool thing. Although at the Ward Halloween party he did chase his friend around with his sword.
