Field Trip!!

Friday night I went out and bought the Sorcerer's Apprentice with a $10 off coupon. (Thank you once again Disney!) We'd never seen it, and I was taking my chances buying it. (I'm glad I did!) When I realized it was PG, I thought I'd let the boys watch it as well. They loved it! If you've seen the movie, in the beginning David is laying in bed and his mom's is yelling to him that he has a field trip that day, and what does she remind him to do? Well Quinn knows it well!

Malcolm has his first field trip of the year tomorrow. As he was taking a bath tonight and I was talking to him about his field trip, Quinn had to quote the movie and tell him, "Don't forget to wear clean underwear!" Why thank you Quinn! 

To The Pumpkin Patch

On Tuesday, Quinn had his first field trip for preschool. They went over to Miss Kortni's house where they got to go on a hayride, pick out a pumpkin, make caramel apples, play and eat treats. I was glad Matt was able to come home so that I could go with him. He was very excited to have his Mom their with him.

They had a class picture taken as well. I love his teacher, Quinn thinks they are a lot of fun. It also helps that I already know Korbi a little. It makes it so comforting to me.

The whole class lined up on the hay bails, then the mom's joined them. I'm glad I could be next to him, so I knew he wasn't going to fall off. It made me just a little nervous.

Here they are singing "Cinco Calabazas", five pumpkins, together as a class. Whenever I ask Quinn if he's learning any Spanish, he always tells me no. But then I will randomly hear him singing some song in Spanish, or counting in Spanish. He's such a funny kid!
Now he's distracted by the leaves, which he gathers some in his hands, then throws on his teacher, Miss Mindy! What a nerd!
When we got back to Miss Kortni's house, all the kids lined up their pumpkins on the railing to take a picture. Quinn was examining his name Miss Korbi had just written on his pumpkin.

Then they got to go inside and take turns making caramel apples. Of course Quinn wanted the chocolate chips over sprinkles. He is such his mother's child!

Fire Stations, Parks and Pumpkin Patches...Oh My!!

I've been having problems with blogging lately. It's not that I don't have anything to blog about, I'm just having a hard time getting a post up. I don't know if it's the fact that I take way too many pictures and have to decide which ones I want to blog. The time it takes to resize them all. Or the time it takes to actually upload and type it all up. I need to be better!!!

Quinn has already had 3 field trips that I have yet to blog about. The first one was to the fire station. I always love going to the fire stations. I get to reminisce about my dispatching days to myself. So I just have to share, for my enjoyment. For part of my "training" I had to go sit with the fire fighters for 2 shifts. I would go on calls...if there were any. The best time was when they had me get all suited up in the gear. When we first got all the gear on, they got paged out to a woman falling in Safeway. So all suited up, actually with only the boots and pants on, I rode on the ambulance and went into Safeway, where everyone thought I was just one of the fire fighter/EMT's...Haha! After transporting her to the hospital we went back to the fire station where they set the practice building on fire. After they got me all set up with ALL the gear on, including the oxygen and mask, I got to crawl in between two fire fighters helping drag in the hose (which is very heavy). They even let me spray the water myself (also very hard since it's so heavy and tons of water pressure). It was so awesome and so very, very hot. I'd have you know, if I didn't have a family, I would totally be a volunteer fire fighter. I loved it!!

On this field trip, right after we got started on looking at the ambulance, the station was paged out to a medical call. All the kids had to line up on the wall, as the ambulance and fire truck left. We almost had to reschedule, when two fire fighter that were training, came back and finished the tour.

There's always a few kids that get scared and cry during this part. The fire fighters do a great job of letting them see the real guy and slowing getting on all his gear to help make it less scary. They like to let all the kids know that if there was ever a fire and they saw a guy like this, he's not scary.

The second field trip was to Reany Park where the kids were all going to collect leaves and such for a nature collage. Malcolm, Winston and I waited for about a half an hour until the class came. Apparently the bus got stuck when it tried turning around after forgetting something.

He kept posing for me in various parts of the play toy, wanting me to take his picture. Perfect, I loved it!! Here he's making his sad face. So, so cute!
When the bus finally got there Quinn was a little excited to be there. He just wanted to play, and I had to convince him to look for leaves and things. He wasn't there 5 minutes when he found himself a mud puddle to jump in. This doesn't capture the full effect of it. He had it all over his other shoe and up the back of his legs. He's such a nerd!

With his bag of nature stuff. I think Malcolm and I picked up more stuff then he was. He was just anxious to get to the toys. I don't blame him really. Especially after sitting on a bus for so long! Quinn was sad when they had to go back to school and was crying. It made me feel so bad, luckily his teacher let me take him home. We had a talk that if he cries when I come, I won't be able to come.
This last field trip was to the pumpkin patch. It was so cold, I was really worried the kids would get to cold. I made sure to take gloves and hats with me. I'm glad I took the gloves. Winston stayed cozy and warm in the sling. I wish I took a self portrait, he looked so cute with his little hat and jacket and then he even fell asleep in the end.

When I was looking through the pictures I just laughed when I saw this picture of Quinn. He looks so cute with that expression on his face.
Each kid got to pick a small pumpkin to take home. This picture would have been so cute of Malcolm with his pumpkin, if kids didn't keep walking by! Haha.

Quinn picked up several pumpkins and would put them back. I finally tried telling him he had to pick one so he could take it home. Then he told me that they were "pokey". Haha, he was right, the stems are "pokey". Luckily I had those gloves, I put those on him and he was fine after that. Love this picture of him. Okay, really, what pictures don't I love of my kids.
Again, I tried capturing a super cute picture of the boys with all the pumpkins behind them. None of them looking. Quinn here is even getting his fist ready for some fighting, apparently.
I love this picture of Quinn. I love to see my boys' eyelashes on their cheeks. They all have wonderfully long eyelashes. (If a girl ever comes to this family, this trait will probably skip her! Haha) During the field trip, Quinn kept telling me he wasn't going to cry. At the end, he still did. It makes me feel so dang bad!! It was better this time. He actually went with his teacher on the bus. I'll give it one more field trip, and if he cries again, I just might have to skip. If I can stand doing that!

The Last Days

Last Thursday was Malcolm's last day of school. These last two weeks they have taken four field trips. The first one was to a retirement community. They've been there before, so I opted to skip that one. The second was to this new pediatric dentist office. This is Malcolm when they were getting off the bus, I think he was a little excited!
It was a great office, in the waiting room there was a huge TV and a counter with 2-3 little TV's with games on them. It was all colorful and fun for the kids. I can't wait to start taking my kids there!! This is the dentist...she was just so cute, and so sweet with the kids.
There was a TV right above the patients chair so that when they were leaning back they could see it. Well they had Spongebob Square Pants playing on it. Malcolm couldn't pay attention to anything but that TV. Finally they had to turn it off, because of him. Only my child!!
The third field trip was to an ice cream parlor called Licks. They showed the kids how they made waffle cones. They smelt soooo good! The kids all got an ice cream cone afterwards.
The last field trip was to a pet store. They only sold fish, but they also groomed dogs. The kids couldn't get enough of looking at all the different kinds of fish.
Friday was Malcolm's preschool graduation. It was one of the cutest things ever. He was so excited about it and the days prior to it, kept singing me the songs they were going to sing and telling me what they were going to do and get. Here he is performing one of the songs.

All us mom's would walk together everyday, then they would all get on the bus together. Hailey's family recently moved to Spokane, so they let her come back for the graduation. We sure do miss the Huisman's!!

After the little graduation, there was a BBQ. They also had a firetruck and a police car there for the kids to see and play in. Kids like nothing more!!
This is Malcolm with his awesome teacher Ms. Ana. I took this a few weeks ago when she came for the last home visit. Malcolm was acting a little embarrassed to have a picture taken with her. We loved her, she was such a great teacher, who really seems to love the children and her job. I am so thankful that Malcolm was blessed to have her. We sure will miss her!

Playing Catch Up

It seems that I've been so busy for some reason. I don't really know what I've been doing, but I haven't been able to do a post.

This last Saturday we took a day trip to Coeur d'alene to celebrate the Poteet boys' birthdays. We're glad we went and had tons of fun. They rented a tiger bounce house, and all the kids had a ton of fun playing in it.

Sunday before church I was wanting to go to this park to take some pictures. We took some sandwiches and had ourselves a little picnic. It was a beautiful day and so fun to have a little picnic. I love all these boys. I guess I'm pretty lucky to be surrounded by so many handsome ones!
There's only been a few nice days, and we made sure to take advantage on them. Quinn was anxious to get out and ride his motorcycle!
Our friends sold Malcolm's old bike at a garage sale and we bought him a new one. His old one for some reason was too hard for him to ride. He loves how fast he can go on his new on.
Wednesday Malcolm's class had a field trip to a nearby park. We had a picnic, fed the ducks and animals and played on the toys. It was sooooo cold. I was wearing a sweatshirt and a coat, and I was still cold. Luckily I had to leave early so Matt could take his final. I felt so bad leaving Malcolm there though. At least he was enjoying himself!
He loves this "tractor"! I think this is the greatest thing for little boys. We'll need one in our future backyard!

Wednesday was also George's birthday (Georgey's dad), so us, Campbell's and Poteet's went and enjoyed the 31 cent night at Baskin Robbins. What a great deal and so good! It was stinking cold though. I felt like we needed ice cream and hot chocolate! After we went back to the Poteet's. George had been wanting a trike for quite some time. Mandy found one on craigslist a month ago and has been very good at keeping the secret. George was so excited! It was a really old Schwinn one and needed a new chain. Here all three guys are trying to get it on right.
