Car Show

A couple weekends ago there was a car show at the shopping mall by us. Matt loves car shows, so we had to go. I love looking at all the old cars too, and making requests for ones I'd like someday. Haha!

I've always loved late 60's mustangs and would really love one someday. Not sure when I would drive it, but I want one. 

Another nice convertible mustang. But I'm more partial to the red one. 

Nice El Camino that make me think of the old Ranchero we used to have on the farm.

The El Camino had this sweet mirror to see it's nice under carriage.

Above is a pretty cool Corvette that Winston couldn't help but touch, though we kept telling the kids no touching. Good thing there was a couple with the Chevy SSR that had grandsons and knew the boys needed to be hands on. They let the boys get inside and get a picture. Plus they gave them a piece of candy.

52' GMC pick up (atleast we think it was a '52). I love the purple, it looks so cool and pretty. Also we got a little family shot in the chrome wheel.

Awesome and classic station wagon. I'm sure we can all remember our own family station wagons. I have fond memories of riding in the back of ours, no seatbelts. Also the beautiful white Gran Turismo. Love the red interior, it's hot!

Love the top picture with the toy car on the engine, which spinned. It looked just like the car too. Then you have the classic Thunderbird, with the drive-in food tray. So cute!

The fire station is the one who put on the car show, so they had one of the ladder trucks there. Quinn was pouting and didn't want in on the picture.

Look at the pouty faced Quinn. He saw Chipotle, where Matt and I like to eat sometimes, and all of the sudden was dying of thirst. He was mad we wouldn't get him a drink. Then there's Malcolm, happy as a clam, and showing off his big boy teeth. He's forgotten how to natural smile now. He now smiles by sticking his teeth out. It cracks me up, but I miss his very cute natural smile.

Then Quinn thought he'd just go pout by the Chipotle door.

Even going inside, I guess hoping if he did so we would all of the sudden have the desire to give into him.

One last car, that Winston decided to run his finger down the side of. The owner didn't appreciate that too much as he was telling him not to touch. Oops!

There at The Shoppes, they have a splash pad, which wasn't on that day, but the fountains still were. The boys had an enjoyable time playing in them and getting all wet. Even though it was kind of chilly out. We thought Winston was going to fall in he was leaning so far in sometimes.

After he was done, he didn't like being wet anymore. This is a kid that if he gets a drop of water on him, he's usually freaking out and stripping off his clothes. Luckily he dealt with it.

As we left, the older boys being naughty, ran ahead. I'm not sure what Malcolm learns in school, but he was doing a little yoga or something while sitting in the middle of the star. 

LA Auto Show

We had a nice distraction from life for the weekend, which was greatly needed for me! Matt's parents were able to come for a visit and we were so excited to have them, though it was way too short, but I bet three nights sleeping on an air mattress was long enough for them.

Friday Matt didn't have any class, and so we just kept Malcolm home as well, so we could go play. After a yummy breakfast of pumpkin pancakes and buttermilk syrup, we got ourselves ready, which takes most of the morning it seems. Matt then had to share his latest obsession of Vietnamese Pho. I don't love it, but love the charbroiled beef spring rolls, and their eggs rolls are divine!  After that we headed into LA to the LA Auto Show. Totally a guy thing, but there we lots of gorgeous cars I would love to drive, though I know nothing about. But a girl likes shiny things, so they were fun to look at.

Matt hogged the camera most of the time, of course, but I did take a few pictures here and there, so most of these pics are his creations.

SLS Mercedes again, pretty sweet. Until I realized Winston wasn't around. Not sure if he was even there when I first walked up. Luckily he started crying and Matt found him in just a couple minutes! It really scared him and he hugged us for quite some time. 

I just liked this so I took a picture. They had screens that covered them up and then  were projected on as well.

I guess Quinn wanted to sit in one of the supercars so Matt put him in this Lotus Exhige. Apparently he was embarrassed and so he said it was stupid. Haha!

That was our LA Auto Show in pictures. It was a fun experience, and reminded me of all the times I've seen Matt watch shows on TV about the auto shows. So glad we had Merle and Cynthia to hang out with.

Home Sweet Home!!

We finally made it home today! Our car finally got fixed yesterday afternoon. We've never had "car trouble" in the almost 7 years of our marriage. I hate it, I don't like it, and I hope it never happens again. (HA) I can't believe how much they charge for the little things, and that those little things aren't covered on the warranty! Go figure! UGH!!!!

When we bought the car, it idled really rough, and I took it in two days after buying it and made them take a look at it. They tried "fixing it" twice, no charge, but it still idled really hard. You know where it just doesn't feel smooth in park! It was annoying. Well now it doesn't do that anymore. Funny how they couldn't fix it before, until we have to bring it in dead!!

It was so nice having a car again. I was stuck at my mom's house all week with no ride and not able to do anything. I just sat around, hoping the car would be finished fast. I was feeling kinda blue from being so unproductive for so long, so I vacuumed my mom's whole house (besides bedrooms). Not just a quick vacuum, moving all furniture and doing all the edges. I felt much better being productive. I'm weird like that!

I packed up everything yesterday so that we could leave, but by the time I was finished and most the car was packed, I started second guessing whether we should travel on compact snow and ice roads in the dark. We decided to stay one more night, so we had to unpack some things, like jammies and a pair of clothes. Then we headed over to Matt's family.

I hadn't been over there since our car broke. Matt had been over there, but we didn't have a vehicle to fit us all in, so I just never made it over there. We didn't do much besides visiting and making dinner together, it was nice getting over there and seeing all the guys, and Stephanie. I love having another sister in law in the house!

We left this morning and got home around 1pm or so. It was just wet roads the whole way, and it warmed up a lot down here, so it was raining too. You cannot believe the amount of snow here, (besides if you live in Spokane, I think they have more) and now it's melted a bit with huge puddles. One of the four lane main roads, was only plowed into a two lane road. They just had no where to put all the snow!

I have a lot to do now, like take down all the Christmas decorations. That will be the first thing I do tomorrow. Then it's on to organizing the house after adding a billion new toys. I can't function in chaos, so it's a priority. But then I really want to get everything over to my new computer and blog. Funny how I have absolutely nothing to do for two weeks, and now my plate is TOO full! Can't I just get something in between!!!

One more thing. Winston has been sleeping TERRIBLE!! He's been waking up at least once a night for the past week or more. Some nights, two or four times. I took him into the doctors tonight, he has an ear infection. No fever, no tugging of ears, no whining during the day. Just not sleeping during the night. My kids are weird and never complain. Hopefully he'll get back to sleeping in a few days. I need my rest too!

Wish me luck on being productive tomorrow and not getting sidetracked!

Car troubles....

Update: Our car didn't get finished Friday. The part is suppose to be here on Monday morning and done Monday afternoon. Hopefully it's done early Monday afternoon so we can get home while it's still light out! Hopefully it actually gets fixed too!

It stinks not having a car all week. I've been confined to my parents house all week and haven't been able to go barely anywhere!

Friday night our car died. Matt came back from his parents and left the car running while he brought Quinn inside. He was inside for literally seconds. When he went back out, the car wasn't even on and wouldn't restart. He tried jumping it that night, getting a new battery the next day, and pushed it into my mom's garage with a space heater in hopes that it was just a frozen line of some sort. None of it worked. Our car was still dead, and wouldn't turn over all the way.

Monday morning I called the dealership, and was told to bring it in. I told them it was totally dead, so it was going to have to be towed. I called our warranty and they dispatched a tow truck out. It was 4 hours late from the time they said it would be here, from so many accidents that morning. By the time they came, it was 3pm and when it got to the dealership, they called and said that they wouldn't be able to get to it the next day. (Which I had already figured!) Here they are loading up my car. At the last minute I ran and got my camera. I was feeling sad that we've only had the car for 16 months and it's being loaded up on a flat bed.

They finally looked at it Tuesday afternoon, said that it was just flooded. Matt knew this couldn't be since it had sat overnight and still didn't start. They said it needed a tune up for $500 and it should be fine. They called Wednesday afternoon (when it was suppose to be finished) and that didn't do it. They said the timing was off, but they wouldn't get to it until Friday, since they are closed New Years Day. UGH! I'm hoping that's all it will be so we can get home sometime soon. If that doesn't do it, we'll be here into next week. That means, more days of Matt not working and no income coming in. So please let it get fixed soon!!

New Car and Goodbyes To Old

I'm happy to say that we sold our car! Thanks to Matt's awesome brother Nate who bought it!!! It's kinda a bittersweet deal because we really did love our little SVT!! It was a fun little car...fast and sporty, but just not built for a family of five. I'm really happy that Nate bought it so that we still get to see it! Matt will definitely miss it more than me, but someday he can buy himself his own little sports car. Right!?! Nate will love this car. I hope he thinks it's worth every penny. Nate I detailed really good just for you!! So here's some last pictures of our wonderful car!!

Our new car we were actually able to find right here in town. How lucky that we didn't have to drive some where to find one. I was trying to talk Matt into a minivan...but I'm really happy with the choice we made. We ended up getting a 2004 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer edition. We got a really good deal on it which made me happy. I think it's perfect for us. I love that the payment is cheaper then the SVT, that will be a plus during the school year. Anyways, needless to say I feel better about this car purchase than any others we've made. Here's some pictures of the new car!One last thing...we are also getting rid of Matt's babies. I'm really am a little sad that he's not able to have these anymore, but I guess it's better for us now anyways. We really don't need 4 vehicles when only two of us can drive. These are Matt's VW Corrados. He's had them for 5 years or more, every since we've been married. He's put a lot of time, money and effort into these things, but he doesn't have the time or money anymore. Notice how dirty they are...they've been sitting since we moved to school. I guess his love is his motorcycle now...or maybe not!
